The Nia 5 Stages is an integrative movement practice based on the five stages of human development: Embryonic, Creeping, Crawling, Standing and Walking. Practiced with awareness, these stages have the power to facilitate optimal alignment, improved function and comfort in the body. Whether practiced at length or for as little as five minutes a day, this system provides a tool for reclaiming and sustaining mobility, flexibility, strength, agility and stability.

My heart’s answer to the question, “what do you want to be when you grow up”, has always been, “a dancer”.  For decades conventional aerobic dance programs, tap dancing, weight lifting and biking filled my need for movement.  Then in January of 2009, the dancer in me found Nia in Dallas Texas where I would fall in love at first sensation!  The dynamic flow of energy, ease of movement, release of tension, playful freedom and ability to experience healing in both body and soul make Nia the perfect practice for me.  In the summer of 2009 I had the privilege of studying under Holly Curtis and Debbie Rosas and received my White Belt and Nia 5 Stages of Healing certification.  A move to Santa Fe recently brought me to StudioNia where I plan to continue my practice and study.  My current plans include completion of both the Green and Blue Belts by the end of 2010.
