Travelling and Accomodations

GETTING TO SANTA FE

There is an airport in Santa Fe, although flights into Albuquerque (60 mi. away) are more numerous and less expensive. There are several convenient shuttles from the Albuquerque airport which will drop you off at your Santa Fe hotel destination. The trip from Albuquerque to Santa Fe is about an hour long.  Please plan your trip to allow for this extra time.   Reservations are required, call Sandia Shuttle at 888.775.5696. Reservations for the Sandia Shuttle can be also be made online at www.sandiashuttle.com.

GETTING AROUND

Santa Fe is small enough that informal carpools can be arranged to and from the training. It is usually not necessary to rent a car, but having one would be fun!  More information on car rentals and Santa Fe Trails, the public bus system, can be found here.

ACCOMODATIONS

There are hundreds of options for accommodations. Below is a list of recommended places to stay that are close to the plaza and not expensive. If you are interested in sharing accommodations, let us know and we'll do our best to hook you up with someone.  There are many chain hotels away from the central Plaza area that may be more affordable, but not as convenient.   We recommend El Rey Inn, the closest hotel to our studio.  Withing walking distance (1 mile), and near many restaurants, El Rey is a Santa Fe tradition.  On 5 acres of beautifully landscapred grounds, El Rey has ample outdoor space, swimming pool, two hot tubs.  All rooms have refigerators, microwaves, and there are laundry facilities on site.  Visit www.elreyinnsantafe.com for more information.  Rooms vary from single full to a suite that will accomodate up to 5 people.  We are happy to help arrange shared accomodations if needed. Santa Fe's historical plaza is a short bus ride away from El Rey, or you can grab a cab.  Shuttle service from the airport will drop you off at El Rey Inn.

THINGS TO SEE AND DO

If you are visiting Santa Fe from out-of-town, The Chamber of Commerce's web site is an excellent source of information about climate, annual events, area shopping, outdoor activities, restaurants, etc.  Santa Fe is known for it's outstanding southwest cuisine, unique architecture, and cultural diversity.  There are numerous museums, galleries, and specialty shops to explore.

Santa Fe in the winter is clear and cold.  Blue skies and moderate temperatures are the norm. Jackets are definitely needed. Santa Fe winters include occasional snow storms, so if you are lucky, you may see Santa Fe covered in white!   The summer is warm and dry.  Being a high desert, the evenings can be cool any time of the year.  Plan on drinking a lot of water and bring layers in the event we get a cool spell in the summer.  Don't forget your lip gloss and sun screen!
